…Village head appreciates Governor for appointment, pledge support
for Udom’s govt.
The
Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Reorientation, Mr Joseph Okon
has taken reorientation campaign of the present administration to his own
village.
The reorientation campaign which took place last Sunday at Ikot
Essien Nsit, Nsit Atai Local Government Area was well attended with eminent
sons and daughters of the community with and outside the state were all
present.
Addressing the gathering,
the Governor’s aide thanked his people for a warm reception and for coming out
in larger number to celebrate with him despite the short notice.
According to him, the aim
of the visit was to identify with his people and intimate them on government
programmes, and the need for the people to support the administration of Deacon
Udom Emmanuel being the right leader for Akwa Ibom at this time. He commended
the people of Ikot Essien Nsit for the massive support they gave to the
governor during the last election which he said the governor has acknowledged
it through his appointment and others.
He noted that Akwa Ibom
people are blessed to have Deacon Udom Emmanuel who is God fearing as a
Governor, particularly in the present economic realities in the country. “Even
with the dwindling economy faced by the country, Deacon Udom Emmanuel has
clearly demonstrated prudent management of resources, and has been able meet
all his obligations ranging from prompt payment of salary to workers, providing
critical infrastructures, and creating jobs for the people which other states
are unable to do”.
He stressed that for the
youths of the community to benefit immensely from the ongoing industrialization
programmes of the state government, they should acquire the needed skills that
will make them eligible to benefit from the foreign investments that the
governor is bringing to the state.
Mr. Okon made a strong case
for education, and called on the people to take advantage of the free and
compulsory education in the state by encouraging their wards to go to school.
He used the opportunity to debunk the rumour going round that Governor Udom
Emmanuel has canceled the free and compulsory education initiated by the
immediate past administration. He said “Governor Udom Emmanuel inherited the
programme and he is sustaining it, because the governor knows the important of
education”.
The governor’s aide
maintained that the only primary school in the village which is currently in a
sorry state will be rehabilitated by government immediately the commencement of
the next phase of school rehabilitations, and assured them that the only road
in the village will be constructed as they continue to keep faith and support
governor Udom Emmanuel.
He used the occasion to
preach peace, unity, and mutual respect for leaders among the people of the
community in order to achieve progress and development. Mr Okon called on
youths to shun all forms of criminalities and violence to make the village
attractive for investment.
Also speaking, the Village
Head of Ikot Essien Nsit, Chief Sunday Andrew Udoh while welcoming their sons
during the solidarity visit to the people of the community described the
appointment as well deserve and meritorious.
He specially thanked the
Governor for finding an indigene of the village fit for the appointment, saying
that God has begin to shower his blessings on the people through their son (Mr.
Joseph Okon). The monarch further describe the appointment as the right choice
that will bring development to the village, adding that within few months in
office Mr Okon has given a good account of himself as a leading light.
The village head
expressed optimism that the appointment is the beginning of more blessings to
come, and that sincere people Mr Joseph Okon like him are needed to contribute
their quotas to the development and progress of Akwa Ibom State and Ikot Essien
Nsit in particular.
Chief Sunday Udoh assured
the governor that with this gesture shown to the community, Ikot Essien Nsit
will always support his administration to complete eight years in office.
Adding that come next election, Ikot Essien will give Udom Emmanuel 100 per
cent vote.
On his part, the Protocol
aide to the governor who is also an indigene of the village, Mr Ernest Francis
Idem commended the people for their support, and assured them that the governor
has notice their patriotism which will be rewarded with development and more
empowerment.
He called on the people to
continue in their support for the governor who is sincere and God fearing man,
and they will be adequately rewarded. He charged the youths who did not go to
school to be interested in skill acquisition in order for them to key into the
industrial agenda of the governor.
In their separate speeches,
a Former Councilor, who represented Ward 10 in Nsit Atai Legislative Council,
Hon Ini Mbat; the Ward Chairman of Ward 10, Mr. Okon Jerome; The former Ward
Chairman of the Ward 10, Mr. Uko Asuqwo Akpan; the Transition Member, Nsit Atai
Local Government Area, Mr. Ime Sunday Etukudo, Engr Aniefiok Idem- a PDP
stakeholder, Obonganwan Eno Sunday Samuel; the Youth President of Ikot Essien,
Chief Emmanuel Joshua, amongst other speakers, thanked God for visiting the
people of the community through the appointment of their sons into the present
government by Deacon Udom Emmanuel.
They equally appreciated
the Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for recognizing the good works of their sons,
which according to them leads to the appointment.
The people declared their
continuous support to the leading political Party in the state, PDP, saying
that PDP is the only political party the guarantee meaningful development and
progress in the state. They urged all to support the party and as well work for
the common interest of PDP in order to achieve more dividends of democracy.
